Do you find yourself thinking day and night about your loved one’s alcohol or other drug use? Perhaps you lie in bed at night wondering where your loved one is, and whether they are safe. Full of fear, you toss and turn waiting for the dreaded sound of the phone ringing, convinced whoever’s on the other end will be the bearer of bad news. You can’t remember the last time you felt free of this and was able to relax.
If you’re honest, you have to admit you’ve developed ‘tunnel vision’ about your loved one’s using, and constantly entertain tragic ends. It feels like it’s only a matter of time, there’s nothing you can do, and nowhere you can turn. You are living in constant fear.
