Ally's Story

Hi. My partner is a meth addict which I have just found out, he has admitted it and says he is clean and has been for 50 days. I have no idea how to deal with this and kicked him out of my house (apart from the drug addiction he also cheated numerous times but said it was always when he was high so didn't mean anything). We are now back together for a bit, as I feel I should give him another chance as he says that the meth made him do it all.... but I really need some advice and support to move forward. I don't know if this is the right site to get this support but I have surfed the internet for support for partners and/or family members of meth addicts and keep coming up with USA sites which want money which I'm not happy about. Hoping somebody here can point me in the right direction. Thanks Ally

Hi Ally, I can identify with your situation. I have just started going to Al-Anon meetings and it is the best thing I have done for me in a really long time. Really helping with my recovery.

Hi Ally, it can be hard to find the kind of help you want when you want it.

There is also the Methhelp http://drughelp.org.nz/a-bit-about-drugs/meth that has a section for family member advice and support.

I work for CADS Auckland and can confirm what Danielle said about getting support for yourself. With help for you and your partner, it is possible to recover.
